Ugh, I Will Just Do It Next Year.

Why waiting for the perfect moment is the thing keeping you stuck, and what to do instead.

I hear it all the time.

“I will start on Monday.”
“Once the holidays are over.”
“January is right around the corner anyway.”

I say this with love: the perfect moment is not coming. And waiting for it is one of the biggest things keeping people from actually feeling better.

Why we do this

The clean start feels good. A new week, a new month, a new year, it all sounds like a fresh page. But January 1st you are the same person with the same body that has been waiting for support since October.

Every week you wait is another week feeling the way you already feel.

I am not saying this to add pressure. I am saying it because I genuinely believe that one small choice made today is worth more than the perfect plan you start in three months.

What I see in my practice

The patients who make the most progress are not the ones who come in having already changed everything. They are the ones who come in and say “I do not know where to start, I just know something needs to change.”

That is enough. That is actually the perfect starting point.

Functional medicine is not about overhauling your entire life in one appointment. It is about understanding what is actually going on in your body so you can make informed choices, one at a time. We look at the full picture, we find the root of what is not working, and then we take the next right step together. Not every step. Just the next one.

That is all it takes to get unstuck.

One invitation for today:

Not a cleanse. Not a new supplement stack. Not a full lifestyle reset.

Just one different choice.

Drink one more glass of water. Go to bed thirty minutes earlier. Book the appointment you have been putting off since summer. Pick the one thing your body has been asking for and do it today. Not Monday. Not January. Today.

That is it. One choice. That is where it starts.
